Journeying Safely on the Path of Nearness to God and Helping the Needy

To have worldly expectations in otherworldly matters makes a work fruitless; it also hints at associating partners with God.
Praise be to Almighty God that  Cenâb-ı Hakk'a hamd ü senâ olsun ki,
He left us on a ramp, in a field, in a port, on a dock, a place that is suitable to be close to Him, while determining our position, albeit distressed;  sıkıntılı da olsa konumumuzu belirlerken Kendisine (celle celâluhu) yaklaşmaya müsait bir rampada, bir alanda, bir limanda, bir rıhtımda bizleri durdurdu;
He said, 'Wait here!' "Burada bekleyin" filan dedi.
Others may be able to fly in the air, travel interstellar like in a Jules Verne's story.  Belki birilerine havalarda uçmak, Jules Verne'in hikayelerinde olduğu gibi yıldızlar arası seyahat yapmak nasip olacak
But what is the significance of this if in the end the result is darkness? ama âkıbet karanlık olunca ne ifade eder ki?
The Honourable Sage Bediüzzaman, considers the seed of belief in his various books:  Hazreti Pîr-i Mugân, Şem'-i Tâbân'ın değişik yerlerde ifade ettiği o çekirdeğin esasen bir açılımı oluyor:
'Belief in God bears the seed of what is in effect a Touba tree of Paradise. "İman, bir manevî tûbâ-i Cennet çekirdeğini taşıyor.
While unbelief conceals the seed of a Zaqqum, tree of Hell.'
As he says, they eat the fruits of that Zaqqum throughout their lives. dediği gibi, hayatları boyunca da onlar o zakkumu hep yudumlayıp dururlar, hafizanallah.
So no matter what we suffer, when we just turn our gaze towards the other side, the eternal side, all of a sudden, all the problems are solved,  Dolayısıyla biz, gırtlağımızda düğümlenme yapabilecek neye takılırsak takılalım, hemen gözlerimizi öbür tarafa (ötelere) çevirince, birden bire bütün problemler çözülür,
with God's permission and grace. Allah'ın izni ve inayetiyle.
Especially once the troubles are left behind, and the obstacles are eliminated...
When the Pride of Humanity closed his eyes and soared like a turtledove to the horizon of his spirit, everything was diminished.  İnsanlığın İftihar Tablosu hayata gözlerini yumup ruhunun ufkuna doğru üveyikler gibi kanat çırpınca, her şey silinip gitmişti gözünden.
He was no longer able to get up;  Artık kalkamayacak durumda idi;
let my soul be sacrificed to you! canım çıksın.
Abu Bakr was leading the Prayer.  Hazreti Ebu Bekir, namaza geçmiş, namazı kıldırıyordu.
When he saw the people behind him were girded ready for worship, like they stand in ranks around the Ka'ba... Arkasındaki insanların kemerbeste-i ubudiyet içinde saf saf olup Kâbe'nin etrafında kümelendikleri gibi kümelendiğini görünce.
In fact, this happened in Medina, but in the words of the Bediüzzaman, when a person turns to the Ka'ba, no matter where he or she is, there is a way even to the Lote-tree of the Utmost End in this matter.
When the Messenger of Allah saw that beautiful, promising scenery, he smiled;  Evet, o tatlı, o yumuşak, o ümit vaad edici manzarayı görünce, Allah Rasûlü tebessüm buyurdular;
He did not have much strength to smile, but he smiled.
May Almighty God grant all of you those pleasant, subtle and pretty moments. Cenâb-ı Hak, hepinize o zevkli, o lezzetli, o şirin, o tatlı dakikaları yaşatır inşaallah.
Yes, He can make the world like Paradise for you.
This world is so different when you look at it like that. Öyle bakınca bu dünya da çok farklılaşıyor.
In a narration attributed to him, the Pride of Humanity, peace and blessings be upon him, states:  Hani bir yerde -Kendisine isnad edilen bir sözde- buyuruyor ki İnsanlığın İftihar Tablosu (sallallâhu aleyhi ve sellem),
'The world is a carcass; a pile of rubbish,  "Dünya, bir cife yığını, esas çöplük gibi bir şeydir;
and those who run after it are dogs.' arkasına düşenler de kelblerdir."
If he used such words with his pure tongue, it is because of the requirements of the explicit meaning.
If he had expressed such a metaphorical statement with other words, they cannot convey the same meaning. Artık öyle bir mazmunu başka hangi kelimeler ile ifade ederse etsin, ona denk gelmez.
Whereas he has conveyed everything he meant, explicitly.  Oysaki O, konuştuğu her şeyi denk getirmiştir.
From this perspective, he says, 'dogs.' Bu açıdan "kilâbün" diyor.
From a different perspective, as Bediüzzaman says: the field of the Hereafter and the loci of manifestation and self-disclosure of the Divine Names. Fakat bir de onun -yine Hazreti Pîr'in ifade ettiği gibi- "mezraatü'l-âhire" (ahiretin tarlası) ve Esmâ-i İlahiyenin mecâlîsi/mezâhiri olması yanları var.
It is possible to observe and perceive Him everywhere: Bakıp her yerde O'na dair nâmeler görmek mümkün:
'Deliberate over the lines of the universe deeply, "Kâinat satırlarını derinden derine teemmül et.
for they are messages revealed to you from the highest abode.' Çünkü onlar Mele-i Âlâ'dan sana indirilmiş Allah'ın mektupları/mesajlarıdır."
'The entire universe is a Sublime Book of God, "Bir kitabullah-ı âzâmdır serâser kâinat
Whatever letter you study, you see its meaning is God. Hangi harfi yoklasan mânâsı hep Allah çıkar."
(R. M. Ekrem) (R. M. Ekrem)
When we look at it from here, these signs indicate Him.  İşte bu yanlarına bakınca, bunlar bile O'nu işaretliyor esasen;
They become like lenses or projectors, according to the spiritual level of people. birer mercek haline, birer projektör haline geliyor, insanın seviyesine göre.
Again, a human is set to observe Him.  Yine bir yönüyle insan, O'nun temâşâsına koyuluyor,
He says, 'I'll see Him.'  "Göreceğim" diyor;
'I am being seen. "Görülüyorum.
Since I believe I'm being seen, God willing, I will see Him as well.'
May Almighty God bestow these two horizons in order.
Let us lead our lives by being aware that we are being seen. "Görülüyor olma"ya hayatımızı bağlayıp sürdürelim.
One day, Almighty God will honour people with truly seeing Him.
As mentioned in Bad' al-Amali, "Bed'ü'l-Emâlî"de dendiği gibi;
'Muslims will see Him in pure form. "Mü'minler, O'nu keyfiyetsiz ve kemmiyetsiz olarak görürler.
No analogy can be brought to explain this.' Buna bir misal de getirilemez."
In the words of the narration, 'Believers will see Him in pure form, as they observe the full moon on the horizon.' Hadisin ifadesiyle, "Mü'minler, kemmiyetsiz, keyfiyetsiz temâşâya koyulurlar O'nu, dolunayı ufukta temâşâ ettikleri gibi."
This is a metaphorical statement of a very comfortable observation.
In fact, God is neither a full moon nor the sun nor something we can see. Yoksa Allah, ne dolunaydır, ne güneştir, ne öyle bizim göreceğimiz şeydir.
Everyone will observe the All-Majestic One, Who rules the universe, according to the mirror of their spirit.  Herkes mir'ât-ı ruhuna göre o kâinatı idare eden Zât-ı Ecell u A'lâ'yı temâşâ edecek.
These were the first two couplets of that poem; Bu, ilk iki beyti idi o manzumun;
There is more: devamı da var:
'Muslims will see Him in pure form. "Mü'minler, O'nu keyfiyetsiz ve kemmiyetsiz olarak görürler.
No analogy can be brought to explain this. Buna bir misal de getirilemez.
And when they see Him, they forget all the blessings of Paradise. O'nu gördükleri zaman da bütün Cennet nimetlerini unuturlar.
May frustration be upon those Mutazilites who claim, 'God cannot be seen'. 'Allah görülmez' diyen Ehl-i İ'tizâl'e hüsran olsun."
When they see Him, they forget all the bounties of Paradise. Gördükleri zaman da, Cennet'in bütün nimetlerini unuturlar.
It is reported that there are some mansions, through which rivers flow; and the partners there are looking forward to meeting with you... Köşk varmış da, altından ırmaklar akıyormuş da, Hûrîler gözlerini dikmiş seni bekliyormuş da.
'What's all this about?' they will say, in the face of that spectacular sight. "Bütün bunlar ne olur ki?" falan dedirtecek insana, bayıltan bir manzara karşısında.
Yes, something like that... Öyle bir şey.
Now, if these are gained, there is nothing left to gain.
Positioning ourselves in that direction... Konumlandırma, o istikamette.
Let our souls be sacrificed to Him, Who placed us in such a position. Öyle konumlandıran Zât'a (celle celâluhu) canlarımız fedâ olsun, kurban olsun.
Our Guide in this matter is a guide who does not mislead.
In this age, his translator... as a matter of fact, Bediuzzaman, the Spokesman of Our Age was always a man who followed him meticulously.
May he rejoice in the Hereafter with the highest abode of Paradise.
His hand is on our shoulders and backs, God willing.  O'nun eli omuzlarımızda bizim, arkamızda inşaallah;
If we walk in his path, with the treatises on Sincerity and Brotherhood, with the consideration of exalting the Word of God... O'nun yolunda yürüyorsak, İhlas Risaleleri, Uhuvvet Risalesi, İ'lâ-i Kelimetullah mülahazaları ile.
With God's permission and grace. Allah'ın izni ve inayeti ile.
If you are supported by such strong hands, there is nothing more to say.
It's not right to look at the matter from a single point of view. Meseleye tek zaviyeden bakmak doğru değil.
As a matter of fact, they did not tolerate you at a certain time. Bir; adamlar -esasen- belli bir dönemde sizi hazmedememişler.
They have been busy with building a social structure that is suitable for themselves.
When you came in sight with distinctness, they were furious with a sense of envy. Farklılıkla ortaya çıktığınızda, size karşı hased duygusu ile köpürmüşler.
This may be one of the reasons. Mesela bir buna verilebilir.
However, if we consider this the only reason, the feeling of only blaming them appears in us. Fakat mesele sadece buna verilince, içimizde onları suçlama duygusu köpürür.
It is also possible to accept this in that way. Onu öyle kabul etmek de olabilir;
Even if it is wrong, we call it 'committing a mistake in reasoning'. bu yanlış bile olsa, "içtihad hatası" deriz buna.
For, the atrocities, evil deeds, and transgressions they commit indicate this. Çünkü şu anda yaptıkları mezâlim, mesâvî, me'âsî de onu gösteriyor.
They commit the gravest sins, in Ziya Gökalp's expression, 'threefold' sins.
The second aspect is this: Bir ikinci mesele de şudur:
Almighty God has given us a wide range of opportunities. Cenâb-ı Hak, bize çok geniş imkânlar/fırsatlar verdi.
When I was thinking of these beautiful brothers and sisters, I never wanted to express my thoughts considering this aspect. Ben, bu güzel kardeşlerimi düşünürken, mülahazalarımı ona bağlayarak hiçbir zaman ifade etmek istemedim.
But as a reminder, considering myself, I said: Fakat hatırlatma nev'inden meseleyi kendime bağlayarak dedim ki:
'If there were a sensible man in my place, I think the acceptance of so many people would lead to an exponential growth in service. "Benim yerimde doğru dürüst, aklı başında bir insan olsaydı, herhalde bunca insanın böyle teveccühü, katlanarak öyle bir mük'ab hizmet haline gelirdi ki.
Unfortunately, I guess this issue was limited because of me. Maalesef ben, bu işin önünü kestiğimden dolayı herhalde bana takıldı,
It was hindered,  o engebeye takıldı kaldı,
and could not go beyond a certain level.' belli bir yerde takıldı kaldı."
I cannot say this for my brothers. Kardeşlerim için onu düşünemem ben.
But I want to remind you: Fakat burada şunu hatırlatmak istiyorum:
All our brothers and sisters may turn to Almighty God with such a consideration. Bütün kardeşlerimizin böyle bir mülahaza ile Cenâb-ı Hakk'a teveccühlerinde mahzur yoktur.
As you know, Bediüzzaman, the Shining Light says: 'self-purification through not purifying one's carnal soul'. "Tezkiye-i nefs etmemek suretiyle tezkiye-i nefs etmek" diyor Hazreti Pîr-i Mugân, Şem'-i Tâbân, bildiğiniz gibi.
We are not supposed to justify ourselves. Kendimizi pâka çıkarmamamız lazım.
He states in the Thirty-First Word: Otuz Birinci Söz'de ifade ediyor:
'Sometimes, God makes a sinful person serve religion as well.' "Allah, bu dini, bazen fâcir bir insanın eliyle bile te'yîd buyurur."
Then he says: Sonra diyor:
'You are not pure, so regard yourself as that dissolute person.' "Müzekkâ olmadığın için, belki sen kendini o racül-i fâcir bilmelisin."
From this point of view, it is important for each person to look at themselves in this way, both for frequent purification and to stop one from allocating a share of success for themselves.
The more we are away from our own power, will, and volition, the more we seek refuge in His power, volition, grace and protection.
This is the right thing to do. Zaten doğru olan da odur:
'Help and power belong to God;  "Havl ve kuvvet, Allah'a aittir;
no one has absolute power to help.' hiç kimsenin bir havli yoktur."
Yes, we need to look at it from this perspective.  Evet, bir de meseleye bu zaviyeden bakmak lazım;
'Where did we go wrong?' "Biz nerede, ne kusur yaptık" filan.
Because of the inadequacy of our perspicacity and intelligence? Mesela idrakimizin yetersizliğinden dolayı mı acaba?
Have we sometimes acted individually, have we resorted to individual decisions?
If we had come together, entrusted everything to such collective consciousness... Kafa kafaya verseydik, böyle kolektif şuura her şeyi emanet etseydik.
That's another matter. Bu da başka bir mesele.
You know, you can mention things like these.
However, it is necessary to look at the issue in a holistic way by referring to these three issues. Fakat ana hususlar olarak zikredilen üç temele ircâ etmek suretiyle meseleye umumî manada bakmak lazım.
On the other hand, there is a positive aspect of the matter: Diğer taraftan, bir de meselenin güzel bir yanı var:
That is how it all starts, in a way. Zaten her şey -bir yönüyle- öyle başlıyor.
Religion, for example, was prohibited in the country;  Mesela din, yasak ediliyor ülkede;
As you know, even the Qur'an courses were prohibited. bildiğiniz gibi, Kur'an kursları bile yasak ediliyor.
I was taking a Qur'an course at that time. Ben, öyle bir dönemde Kur'an kursuna gidiyordum.
A hole in the barn was made to enter the imam's room. Ahırın bir yerinden bir delik açılarak, imam odasına giriliyordu.
As six or seven-year-old kids, we used to study there.  Orada işte biz çocuklar okuyoruz, 6-7 yaşlarında.
I remember the gendarmes even raided there. Jandarmanın orayı bile bastığını hatırlıyorum.
Such a period... Böyle bir dönem.
Then, remembering the ideas of the Honourable Sage Bediüzzaman, what happened? Bu defa Hazreti Pîr'in sistematiği içinde, ne oluyor?
It was not something prominent, but two or three people used to get together, and stayed in a house where students study the Treatises of Light.
Now, that hardship shows us a very different angle of outreach,  Şimdi o sıkıntı, bir yönüyle çok farklı bir açılım açısı bize gösteriyor,
with God's permission and grace, Allah'ın izni-inayetiyle;
You know, we came to today after that kind of beginning. hani bugünlere gelindiyse, öyle bir mebde ile, öyle bir başlangıç ile oldu.
This is the positive aspect of the issue.
Almighty God is now applying pressure,  Cenâb-ı Hak, şimdi tazyik ediyor
but 'with hardship comes ease. ama "Her güçlükle beraber bir kolaylık vardır.
Surely, with hardship comes ease' (Al-Inshirah, 94:5-6). Evet, her güçlükle beraber bir kolaylık vardır" (İnşirâh, 94:5-6).
After difficulty there is convenience;  Her zorluktan sonra bir kolaylık vardır;
after difficulty there is convenience. her zorluktan sonra bir kolaylık vardır.
The Holy Qur'an states this in the Chapter Al-Inshirah.  Kur'an-ı Kerim buyuruyor, İnşirâh Sûresi'nde.
So the blessed soul of our noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was very uncomfortable during the period of Mecca.
Therefore, it is stated: 'And eased you of the burden, which weighed so heavily on your back' (Al-Inshirah, 94:2-3).
'A pressure that may break the bones of your back.' "Senin sırtının kemiklerini çatlatacak/kıracak şekilde tazyikât."
He was exposed to such pressure.  O öylesine maruzdu.
'But you should know that after all these difficulties there is convenience.' "Ama bilmelisin ki bütün bu zorluklardan sonra bir kolaylık var."
In addition to those negative things that we now talk about, Almighty God has also led us towards such positive things;  Şimdi bize ait yanlarıyla da bahsettiğimiz o olumsuz şeylerin yanı sıra, Cenâb-ı Hak, bir de böyle olumlu şeylere doğru bizi sevk etti;
scattered us all over the world. dünyanın dört bir yanına saçtı-savurdu.
Next to those who have migrated voluntarily before... Bir dönemde ihtiyârî gidenlerin yanına.
There was a hidden truth.  Onda da ayrı bir hikmet varmış;
We know so little.  bizim aklımız ermez:
If they hadn't gone there before, if they hadn't conveyed your feelings, thoughts, and basic philosophy, the new migrants wouldn't have been accepted so easily. Onlar önceden oralara gitmeselerdi, sizin hissiyatınıza, düşüncenize, temel felsefenize tercüman olmasalardı, arkadan muhacirler gittikleri zaman, o iltifatı göremeyeceklerdi.
You presented a very good image there.  Siz (arkadaşlarınızla) çok iyi bir imaj uyardınız oralarda;
Those who came later were embraced with affection. arkadan giden insanlar da sımsıkı kucaklara, açılmış âğuşlara kendilerini attılar
They attained peace. ve huzur içinde soluklanmaya durdular.
These are positive things. İşte bunlar da pozitif şeyler.
From now on, we should behave according to our own position.
We have friends who have migrated before. Eskiden gitmiş arkadaşlarımız var.
Even if some people demolish the organisations, devastate them, put dynamite under them, tear all your systems apart there,  Birileri o ümranları yıksa, bir yönüyle harap etse, blokajlara dinamitler koysa, orada sizin bütün statik hesaplarınızın altını üstüne getirse de
with God's permission and grace, Allah'ın izni-inayeti ile
you must continue to do your duty. siz vazifenizi yapmalısınız.
They choose to destroy.  Onlar tahribat cihetine gidiyorlar;
Perhaps, their task is easy. belki, işleri kolay.
But they will surely experience the conviction of defeat in the face of Almighty God's grace. Fakat Cenâb-ı Hakk'ın inayeti karşısında bozguna uğrama mahkûmiyetini mutlaka yaşayacaklardır.
Yes, we have to make a very good assessment of that;  Evet, bunu çok iyi değerlendirmek lazım;
We should analyse the issue from this perspective as well in this period.  meseleye bir de böyle bakmak lazım bu dönemde.
Every day we hear heartbreaking happenings. Vakıa her gün içimizi acıtan, içimizi kanatan tablolar karşısında kalıyoruz.
All these happenings are like drops of blood, Bütün bunlar kan damlaları oluyor,
dripping to my heart, too. benim de içime damlıyor,
They disturb my sleep,  uykumu kaçırıyor,
and trigger my various illnesses. değişik rahatsızlıklarımı tetikliyor.
But we have to grit our teeth and be patient. Fakat dişimizi sıkıp sabretmemiz lazım.
We should always say: 'We are pleased with God as Lord, with Islam as religion, and with Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, as Messenger.'
In some narrations, it was stated, 'Messenger and Prophet.'
As in the Morning and Evening prayers...  Sabah-Akşam dualarında olduğu gibi-
By saying, 'We are pleased with God as Lord, Islam as religion and with Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, as Messenger'.  "Rab olarak Allah'tan, din olarak İslâm'dan, rasûl olarak da Hazreti Muhammed'den (sallallâhu aleyhi ve sellem) razı olduk" demek suretiyle,
We need to strike a sledgehammer on the top of those negative feelings, thoughts, imagination, and conception.  olumsuz gibi meydana gelen o duygu, o düşünce, o tahayyülât, tasavvurâtın tepesine bir balyoz indirmemiz lazım,
With God's permission and grace. Allah'ın izni-inayeti ile.
On the one hand, if we live with the purpose of attaining God's pleasure,  Bir taraftan rıza ufuklu yaşarsak,
If we constantly take the matter in the orbit of demanding for the consent and good pleasure of Almighty God,  sürekli Cenâb-ı Hakk'ın rızasını ve hoşnutluğunu talep yörüngesinde meseleyi götürür isek,
if we plan our movements by making use of the contributions of the ideas of our time, considering the current world, today's conditions and conjecture,  bir taraftan da hâlihazırdaki dünyaya ve bugünkü şartlara, konjonktüre göre, zamanın yorumlarının katkılarını yanımıza alarak hareketlerimizi planlar isek,
with God's permission and grace, Allah'ın izni-inayeti ile,
it means that we are always walking towards God.  hep Allah'a doğru yürüyoruz demektir,
God willing... inşaallah.
We are travelling in the path of nearness to God. Biz, kurbet yolcusuyuz.
The Sufis were doing this in the lodges: Sofiler tekkelerde onu yapıyorlardı:
'Annihilation in the Sheikh,' "Fenâ fi'ş-şeyh",
'Annihilation in the Messenger,' "Fenâ fi'r-Rasûl",
'Annihilation in God,' "Fenâ fi'llah",
'Subsistence with God, live by God with God,' "Bekâ billah-maallah",
'Journeying from God.' "Seyr ani'llah".
You will go. Gideceksiniz;
Continuous 'descending' and 'ascension' will follow each other. sürekli "nüzûl"lar ile "urûc"lar birbirini takip edecek.
You will go, you will be filled with light, and you will be satisfied. Gidecek, dolacak, doyacaksınız;
You will be full and overflow.  lebrîz olacak, taşacaksınız,
Everything will overflow,  taşacak her şey
with God's permission. Allah'ın izni ile.
You will say, 'I am obliged to convey these feelings to others.'
As Abdulquddus expresses the disposition of the Pride of Humanity: İnsanlığın İftihar Tablosu'nun halini Abdülkuddûs'un ifade ettiği gibi:
'I swear to God that if I could attain the station God bestowed upon Prophet Muhammad, I would certainly not return from there. "Öyle makamlara erdi, öyle şeyler gördü ki, vallahi ben oraya çıksaydım, geriye dönmezdim
But he came back.' ama O döndü."
As another friend of God said,  Bir başka Hak dostunun dediği gibi,
'Understand the difference between the Prophet and the others by considering this decision.' "Peygamber ile başkalarının arasındaki farkı işte bundan anlayın."
Living for others... Bir, yaşatma duygusu.
Or just living. Bir de yaşama duygusu.
That is a decision as well. O da hor-hakir değil;
You enter Paradise; you meet your beautiful partners. Cennet'e girersin, Hûrî-Gılmân olur.
God explains this in the Holy Qur'an.
But nothing can be like that sense of living for others. Fakat hiçbir şey o yaşatma duygusu gibi olamaz.
You are going to help thousands of people. Binlerce insanın elinden tutacaksın, edeceksin, filan.
With these feelings, we will experience constant ebbs and flows. Bütün bunlar ile sürekli gel-gitler yaşayacağız;
While these feelings harass us, we immediately take these prescriptions and apply to the pharmacy of the Glorious Messenger.  o duygular bizi hırpalarken, hemen beri tarafta bu türlü reçeteleri elimize alarak Cenâb-ı Risâlet-penâhînin eczanesine müracaat ederek,
'O Messenger of God! "Yâ Rasûlallah.
I have such a problem. Benim böyle bir derdim var;
Dear my master, what is the cure for this?' we will say. efendim, bunun reçetesi nedir?" falan diyeceğiz.
Maybe he will say:  O da belki diyecek ki:
'Didn't you read my biography?' "Sen benim Siyer'imi okumadın mı?"
Another issue is that we migrated to different parts of the world.
Canada, California, Germany, England, Holland, America, and Africa... Nerede Kanada, nerede Kaliforniya, nerede Almanya, nerede İngiltere, nerede Hollanda, nerede Amerika ve nerede Afrika, siyah Afrika?
From this point of view, our friends who grew up there, have already analysed the people with their background, read the culture correctly;  Bu açıdan da oralarda yetişmiş insanlar, oranın insanını arka planı ile okumuştur, doğru okumuştur;
they may have accurate evaluations.  isabetli değerlendirmeleri vardır.
If we put our heads together, we will understand the meaning of the statement, 'A consulting person will never face disappointment'. Kafa kafaya verir isek, "İstişare eden insan, haybet (kayıp) yaşamaz" kazanımını yakalamış oluruz.
We shall seize it with God's permission and grace, or minimise the risks of errors.
From this point of view, it is necessary to analyse the geography correctly. Bu açıdan da coğrafyayı doğru okumak lazımdır.
Therefore, wherever we are in the world, it is necessary to determine what we say and practice, by interacting with the people there, and to deepen our discourse and deeds with exemplary action and conduct. Dolayısıyla, dünyanın neresinde bulunuyorsak, oradaki insanlar ile dirsek temasında bulunmak suretiyle diyeceğimiz, edeceğimiz şeyleri belirlemek ve onları temsil ile derinleştirmek lazımdır.
In addition to the Prophetic statements, to use rhyme-like 'disposition' and 'exemplary action and conduct'. Yani Peygamberâne ifadelerin yanında, -"Peygamberâne ifadelerin yanında" diyorum- meseleye "hâl" ile "temsil" ile kâfiyeler koymak.
I mean, our behaviour should reflect exactly what we say. Yani, davranışlarımız, dediğimiz şeylerin milimi milimine aynı olmalı esasen.
So we can integrate into that society. Dolayısıyla böylece o topluma entegre olmuş oluruz.
That people consider us as members of themselves, a community of themselves. O toplum bizleri kendilerinden birer fert, kendilerinden birer toplum olarak görür.
On the other hand, in a place like this, in a foreign country, there may be issues related to lifestyle or belief systems that can influence us.
For instance, human values may be superior. Meselâ insanî değerleri çok önde olabilir.
But religion has some obligations. Fakat dinin bazı emirleri var.
May God protect us from it; standing firm against luxury and pomp, we should build greenhouses, and stay safe inside them... İşte hafizanallah, bohemliğe karşı kararlı durma, seralar oluşturma, hep onların içinde emn ü emân içinde bulunma.
These are very important to us, for the young generations coming.
The books that young people read belong to that culture.  Gençlerin okudukları kitaplar, onlara (gidilen coğrafyanın kültürüne) aittir.
It is necessary to endear our values by exalting them.  Ne yapıp yapıp bizim değerlerimizi, methedip göklere çıkarmak suretiyle, onlara sevdirmek lazımdır.
Is there a person who becomes familiar with the lifestyles of the society in the Era of Bliss but does not like it?
In this respect, when such a thing is achieved, I think, we will attract our own children and build greenhouses against assimilation.
With God's permission and grace. Allah'ın izni-inayeti ile.
The Pride of Humanity appealed to the benevolence of people in the beginning.  İnsanlığın İftihar Tablosu mebdede meseleyi başlatırken insanların himmetine müracaat etmişti.
They were going to Tabuk. Tebük'e gideceklerdi;
They needed a lot of equipment. çok ciddi donanıma ihtiyaç vardı.
They needed to be mechanised according to the requirements of the period.
Our noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, has appealed to the benevolence of people. Efendimiz (sallallâhu aleyhi ve sellem) himmete müracaat etti.
You call this fundraising.
You were raising funds almost everywhere. Hemen her yerde himmet yapıyordunuz;
You were giving scholarships. burs veriyordunuz,
You were erecting buildings. bina yapıyordunuz,
You were organising courses.  kurs açıyordunuz;
You were doing these. bunları yapıyordunuz.
The Pride of Humanity spoke in the most influential way there.
When he spoke, even the mountains, stones, trees and animals answered His words. Konuşunca, O'nun sözlerine -bir yönüyle- dağ, taş, ağaç, hayvanlar bile cevap veriyordu.
If you look at Bediüzzaman's writings on the Prophet's miracles, you will see how so many things rushed in command to him. Üstad hazretlerinin, mucizâtı serdettiği yere bakacak olursanız, nelerin "Lebbeyk" (Buyur yâ Rasûlallah) deyip O'na koştuğunu göreceksiniz.
There were some issues there. Orada birkaç mesele söz konusuydu:
Our masters, Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, Ali... Hazreti Ebu Bekir efendimiz, Hazreti Ömer efendimiz, Hazreti Osman efendimiz, Hazreti Ali efendimiz.
Indeed, each of them acted according to their real value and stature that day in preparation for Tabuk. Hakikaten bunların her birerleri kâmet-i kıymetleri ölçüsünde yaptılar.
The Honourable Abu Bakr brought all his possessions. Hazreti Ebu Bekir, malının bütününü getirdi;
The Honourable Umar brought half of his wealth. Hazreti Ömer efendimiz, yarısını getirdi;
The Honourable Ali brought part of his wealth openly and some of it secretly.  Hazreti Ali efendimiz, yarısını gizli, yarısını açık getirdi;
The Honourable Uthman has already donated five hundred camels, you know. Hazreti Osman efendimiz zaten beş yüz tane deve himmeti yaptı, malum.
This is all legendary. Dillere destan bütün bunlar.
But there were those who did not understand this issue. Fakat bu meseleyi anlamayanlar da vardı.
After the Glorious Messenger spoke, Mesela, O (sallallâhu aleyhi ve sellem) konuştuktan sonra,
some said, 'What are we supposed to do now? "Ne yapılacak şimdi,
Shall we bring what we have earned with great effort and put our wealth before them?' alın teri ile kazandığımız şeyleri getirip bunların eteklerine mi dökeceğiz?" falan.
Someone else understood the subtlety here, and immediately rushed to his house. Birisi o inceliği anladı, hemen evine koştu;
Either carrying in a garment or his hands, he brought whatever he had. ya eteği veya avuçları dolu, ne var ise onun içinde, getirdi,
'Take these, O Messenger of God', he said. "Al yâ Rasûlallah" dedi.
Soon the others said,  Hemen öbürleri dediler ki,
'So this is how we have to do it.' "Demek böyle yapmak lazımmış."
Yes, like that. Evet, bunun gibi.
From this point of view, we are not dealing with a matter blindly.
May Allah be forever pleased with our friends and our elders.  Arkadaşlarımızdan, büyüklerimizden Allah ebeden razı olsun;
They also formed an idea of fundraising. onlar da bir himmet düşüncesi oluşturdular.
This idea, at one time, has evolved very much. Bu düşünce, bir dönemde öyle gelişti ki,
  Allah'ın izni-inayeti ile.
You know, I've seen many things in so many different places.  Hani ben çok değişik yerlerde, değişik şeylere şahit oldum
I will only tell you one of them. fakat sadece bir tanesini arz edeceğim;
I can also mention the place: hatta yerini de arz edeceği onun:
It was in Bozyaka's hall. Bozyaka'da, Bozyaka'nın salonunda.
I was trying to talk about something like this.  Yine Fakir, böyle derme-çatma bir şeyler konuşuyorum,
Just like I give you a headache here. işte burada başınızı ağrıttığım gibi.
After that, the friends, the senior ones took a notebook and pen.  Ondan sonra da arkadaşlar, işin önündekiler, defteri kalemi alıyorlar;
'What do you promise to give? böyle, "Sen ne veriyorsun?
What do you promise to give?' they asked. Sen ne veriyorsun?" soruyorlar;
People promised to donate the amounts they wished. insanlar da gönüllerinden koptuğu gibi taahhüt ediyorlar.
After I talked, I retreated to a corner.  Ben konuştuktan sonra çekildim,
I was a little embarrassed. biraz utanıyordum.
I mean, I consider that as a kind of begging, but what else would we do?  Yani onu da bir dilenme gibi görüyordum ama neylersin;
Otherwise, that big wheel would not spin. başka türlü de o kocaman çark dönmüyor,
There must be a cascade to spin the wheel. ona göre bir çağlayan olması lazım ki döndürsün.
I retreated to my own room. Kendi odama çekildim ben.
Then, a man who retired as a petty officer, who was active in the movement there, came running with keys in his hand. O sırada, astsubaylıktan emekli, orada hizmette de koşan birisi, elinde anahtarlar, koşa koşa geldi.
With tears in his eyes, he said, 'Sir! Gözleri dolu dolu, "Hocam" dedi,
I have no money to donate.  "Benim verecek param yok;
I'm giving to you the keys of my house, which I bought with a retirement bonus.' astsubaylıktan emeklilik ikramiyesiyle aldığım evimin anahtarlarını veriyorum."
An incident I won't forget. Unutamayacağım bir hadise.
There are so many incidents I can't forget.
Somewhere else, the promised donations were not much, and I was frustrated.
I said: Dedim ki:
'I can find it. "Ben bulurum bunu;
I promise to donate a hundred thousand liras.' ben de yüz bin lira taahhüt ediyorum" dedim
However, I never thought about it. ama belki hiç düşünmedim;
I didn't think about how to find it. nasıl bulurum diye de düşünmedim.
A day later, maybe two days later, someone, most of you know...
Yes, both brothers-in-law were so generous. Evet, her iki bacanak da öyle cömerttiler,
They were in the Hizmet Movement. Hizmet'in içindeydiler.
On an occasion, I went to his house for breakfast.
I didn't demand anything.  Bir şey talep etmedim ben,
I didn't ask him. istemedim ondan.
He was not a leading figure until that day.
'Sir,' he said. "Hocam" dedi,
'On that day, you have made a promise to donate.  "Siz o gün himmet yapmışsınız,
You have promised to donate a hundred thousand liras. yüz bin lira taahhüt etmişsiniz.
If you don't mind, I'd like to donate this.' Kusura bakmazsanız, onu ben vermek istiyorum" dedi.
Yes, you make a bold move. Evet, bir yerde siz cesurca bir adım atıyorsunuz;
Almighty God responds in such a way that you are ashamed.
You're bent double like a staff. iki büklüm oluyorsunuz asâ gibi.
Our friends are helping the needy, they are familiar with fundraising. Arkadaşlarımız böyle himmet ile muavenete de alışmışlardı;
Only the name and scope has changed.  sadece işin adı, bir de alanı değişti.
In the past, the issue took place in Turkey. Eskiden mesele Türkiye'de cereyan ediyordu.
The situation has changed a little bit. Meselenin biraz şekli de değişti.
We went abroad. Yurt dışına çıktık biz;
There are a lot of people to look after here. burada bir hayli bakılacak insan var,
There are people in need. muavenete muhtaç insan var.
There are women and children. Kadınlar var, çocuklar var.
There are martyrs.  İşte şehit olan insanlar var,
There are people who became martyrs while traveling. gelip-giderken yollarda şehit olan insanlar var.
They need to be looked after. Bunların hepsinin görülüp gözetilmesine ihtiyaç var belki.
How can we do these kinds of organizations out there, for example in America?
How can we do it in Germany? Almanya'da nasıl gerçekleştirebiliriz?
In some places, there are some charity funds for the needy. Bazı yerlerde böyle bu türlü muhtaçlara yardım fonları oluyor, yapıyorlar.
It is possible to raise such funds.  O türlü organizasyonlar da olur
However, they have to believe us first.  ama bize inanmaları lazım,
They need to trust us. güvenmeleri lazım.
The integrity of our current situation and representations with yesterday's words will amplify our voice,  Dünkü sözlerimiz ile bugünkü hal ve temsillerimizin örtüşmesi, meseleyi koro haline getirecek,
with God's permission and grace. Allah'ın izni-inayeti ile.
Everyone will hear,  Herkes duyacak,
Everyone will run to that call,  herkes o çağrıya koşacak,
with God's permission and grace, Allah'ın izni-inayeti ile.
