On the Path to Eternal Happiness

On the Path to Eternal Happiness

The important figures in my hometown were always reading Al-Jazuli's Dalail al-Khayrat. Bizim oralarda vardı, büyük insanlar hep onu okurlardı: (el-Cezûlî'nin) "Delâilü'l-Hayrât"ı.
The Honourable Sage Bediüzzaman often cites salutations to the Prophet from that book. Üstadımız da değişik yerlerde hep ondan salât u selamları almış.
Our noble Prophet also mentions that salutations to him will be one of the good deeds that will be weighed on the Divine Scale. Efendimiz de (sallallâhu aleyhi ve sellem) "mizana konacak şeylerden" buyuruyor, "salât u selam" hakkında.
He presents it as a way of attaining his intercession on the Day of Judgement.
God Almighty will open the doors of intercession and those who recite it will benefit from it and be successful by the Will of God, if we engage with it collectively.
As mentioned in The Imploring Hearts, when such invocations are divided amongst people and read collectively, it would be as if one individual read the entire book of prayers.
The Honourable Master calls this 'participation in works of the Hereafter'. "İştirâk-i a'mâl-i uhreviye" tabiriyle Hazreti Üstad ifade buyuruyor bunu.
That is if the entire book, The Imploring Hearts, were divided into 60-70 parts and each person read 10 pages every day, it would be as though each person finished the book every day. Yani, her gün siz, el-Kulûbu'd-Dâria'dan on sayfa okusanız, altmış-yetmiş insana taksim edilse, her gün bütün el-Kulûbu'd-Dâria'yı okumuş sayılırsınız.
And at the same time, each person would have repeated many salutations to the noble Prophet.
And those good deeds will accompany you to the Divine Scale, with God's permission and grace.
Praise be to God Almighty, our friends have already divided a lot of prayers and salutations into parts and everybody is reciting them daily. Şimdi, Cenâb-ı Hakk'a hamd olsun, arkadaşlarımız zaten bölüşmüşler, el-Kulûbu'd-Dâria'yı da okuyorlar; Cevşen taksimi vardı arkadaşlarla, aksatmadan zannediyorum okunuyor; Evrâd-ı Kudsiye öyle okunuyor; Salât-ı Tefriciyeler öyle okunuyor.
I believe our friends spend up to two hours each day reciting these prayers. Yani, arkadaşlarımızın her gün duaya ayırdıkları vakit -zannediyorum- bir-iki saat sürer.
We should be careful and not get carried away and boast about things like this, about being a part of something larger than us. Bunlar ile aidiyet mülahazasına meseleyi bağlayıp fahirlenmemek lazım.
Almighty God might have led us to that state because we needed it desperately.  Cenâb-ı Hak, belki çok ihtiyacımıza binaen o hâle sevk etmiş bizi.
But... Ama
'Whether it is suffering that comes from Your Majesty "Gelse Celâlinden cefa
Or fidelity from Divine Beauty. Yahut Cemâlinden vefa
Both are a delight to the soul, İkisi de cana safa
Pleasant are Your wrath and grace.' Lütfu da hoş, kahrı da hoş."
People of the righteous path have often suffered various calamities. Doğru yolda olunca, esasen, bu yolda bulunanlar, değişik musibetlere maruz kalmışlar.
They should never think that this is because they are in the wrong. Kat'iyyen bunu yanlış bir şey yaptıklarına vermemeliler.
They should thank God and say: Allah'a hamd etmeliler ve demeliler ki:
'O God, all praise is to You, what if we were among those who are in the wrong? "Allah'ım, Sana binlerce hamd u senâ olsun, ya burada olmayıp da orada olsaydık.
O God! Allah'ım.
All praise is to You, what if we among those who are in the wrong?'
Indeed, this is the righteous path, the path of the Prophets. Evet, burada olmak, peygamberlerin yolu.
Which among the great Prophets did not suffer in the hands of the people of unbelief? Enbiyâ-i ızâmdan hangi nebi var ki, ehl-i delâletten, ehl-i küfürden, ehl-i nifaktan çekmemiş?
From Adam, who suffered from his sons, to Noah, peace be upon them. Hazreti Âdem'den (aleyhisselam) -ki, oğullarında başlamış çekmeye- Hazreti Nuh'a (aleyhisselam).
From Noah to Hud, to Salih and Abraham, peace be upon them. Hazreti Nuh'tan (aleyhisselam) Hûd (aleyhisselam)'a, Sâlih (aleyhisselam)'a, İbrahim (aleyhisselam)'a kadar.
Those are the ones that we know of. Bunlar bilinenler.
By narrating those stories that are known, a reference is made to the unknown ones. Bilinenler söylenmek suretiyle, bilinmeyenlere işarette bulunuluyor burada.
If you are unaware of these stories, you can look at all the suffering our noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, experienced as stated in his biographies. Ve şayet bunların hepsine vâkıf değilseniz, tarihin ve Siyer'in kaydettiğine göre, Efendimiz'in (sallallâhu aleyhi ve sellem) çektiği şeylere bakın.
Indeed, 'The most strenuous, most difficult of misfortunes, have come to the Prophets first, then to people according to their level of belief'.
The most strenuous, most difficult of misfortunes, have come to the great Prophets first, then to people according to their level of belief.
From that perspective, one who is on the path of the perspicuous religion of Islam and who never endured any hardship should attribute it as a misfortune. O açıdan da din-i mübîn-i İslam yolunda olup da bir belaya maruz kalmayan insan, onu kendi talihsizliğine vermeli.
If one thinks that they are serving Islam but have not been subject to the difficulties and tribulations, like the great Prophets, like Abu Bakr, Ammar ibn Yasir, Yasir, and Sumayya, in reality, this is their own misfortune. "Din-i mübîn-i İslam'a hizmet ediyorum, ben onu ikâme etmeye çalışıyorum." deyip de Enbiyâ-ı ızâmın, Hazreti Ebu Bekir'in, Ammâr b. Yâsir'in, Yâsir'in, Sümeyye'nin maruz kaldıkları şeylere maruz kalmamış ise, Bilal'in maruz kaldığı şeye maruz kalmamış ise, esasen, kendi talihsizliğini yaşıyor demektir.
Essentially, the luxuries of the world and its extravagance... Esasen bu dünyevî debdebe, ihtişam, âlâyiş.
When I see these, I think of the title of my novel I have not penned, 'And Man Was Deceived.' Bunları görünce, benim yazılmamış romanımın adı: ".Ve insan aldandı."
Indeed, they are being deceived. Evet, aldanıyorlar.
Those who live their lives as though the world means everything, without thinking of their Hereafter are being deceived. Dünya, her şey imiş gibi yarınsız yaşayanlar, öbür günsüz yaşayanlar, zırhlı arabalar içinde yaşayanlar, aldanıyorlar.
Remember how Khabbab ibn al-Arat expressed his feelings to the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him. Habbâb b.{j}Erett'in, Efendimiz'e (sallallâhu aleyhi ve sellem) iç döküşünü hatırlayın:
He comes and expresses his feelings at a time where violence had peaked and the atmosphere became unbearable, he could take it no longer.
They are still at the beginning of the path and they believe in the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, so much (may God bless us with such belief) that if he raises his hands and prays, 'O my Lord!
Change the direction of the earth's orbit', it would change instantly. Bu küre-i arzın yerini değiştir, yörüngesini değiştir." dese, anında değişir.
Hasn't he done so already? Ee canım yapmamış mı?
When he raised his index finger, didn't the moon split into two? Parmağı ile işaret edince, Kamer şâk olmamış mı?
And so many more examples. Daha neler neler?
The Honourable Sage Bediüzzaman mentions about such miracles. O "Mucizât"ta Hazreti Pîr'in seçtiği şeyler.
The laws of nature are flipped as he raises his index finger. Sadece onlara bakınca, bütün tabiat kanunları, O'nun bir işareti ile alt-üst oluyor, hepsi değişiyor.
That is how they believe in him. Şimdi onlar, O'na öyle inanıyorlar.
So Khabbab ibn al-Arat says, 'I will go and express how I feel to the Messenger of God, peace and blessing be upon him. It has become unbearable.' This is probably how he thinks.
He is servant at someone's door, a foreigner; he works and his master tortures him, others torture him. Nihayet birinin kapısında hizmetçi, mevâlîden; o çalışıyor, efendisi ona işkence ediyor, başkaları ona işkence ediyor.
To torture the believers is to do wrong unto them in their state of exhilarated worship. Mü'minlere işkence etme, onlar için âdetâ bir ibadet neşvesi içinde irtikâp ediliyor;
Just as it is today. "Kemâ kâne el-yevm." (Tıpkı bugün olduğu gibi.)
Yes, 'O Messenger of God! Evet, "Yâ Rasûlallah.
Will you not pray to Almighty God?' Dua etmez misin Cenâb-ı Hakk'a?"
They are only at the beginning of their journey. İşin başındalar daha.
Perhaps only 10 chapters of the Qur'an have been revealed, they have become Muslim with only those. On tane sûre belki nâzil olmuş; onun ile Müslüman olmuşlar.
But they were so hooked, so connected. Ama öyle kenetlenmişler, öyle bağlanmışlar ki.
Like the noble and dignified Abu Bakr. Seyyidinâ Hazreti Ebu Bekir gibi.
When he listened to only one verse he would say, 'To whom?' To me, O Messenger of God.' He was this fair and unprejudiced and for any matter would say, 'It is my great pleasure', no matter the task. Daha bir ayeti görünce, "Kime?" "Bana yâ Rasûlallah." diyecek kadar o mevzuda ön yargısız, ön şartsız; denen her şeye hemen "Baş-göz üstüne."
God's Messenger does not say, 'Let me pray that these misfortunes and calamities be lifted from you,' as the People of the Ukhdud explain: Allah Rasûlü (sallallâhu aleyhi ve sellem) "Ben dua edeyim de sizden bu belâlar, musibetler savulsun." demiyor da Ashâb-ı Uhdûd'u anlatıyor:
Before you, people were taken away; their flesh separated from their bones. İnsanlar, sizden evvel alınırlardı; böyle etleri kemikleri birbirinden ayrılırdı.
They were cut, sliced, diced; butchered. Keser, biçer, doğrarlardı; insanlara karşı kasaplar gibi davranırlardı.
But they did not turn away from their religion. Fakat onlar yine de dinlerinden dönmezlerdi.
Look at the verse in which the Chapter Buruj begins in the Qur'an, painting the picture of the People of the Ukhdud. Look at what has been said about this matter in the Qur'anic Commentaries. İşte, وَالسَّمَاءِ ذَاتِ الْبُرُوجِ beyanı ile başlayan Burûc Sûresi'nde, Ashâb-ı Uhdûd'u resmeden ayetlere bakın; sonra tefsirlerde, o bahsin ifade edildiği bölümlere bakın.
They were even doing it to children, even to children. Çocukları bile yapıyorlar; aynen çocukları bile yapıyorlar.
The child would be crying there and they would throw the mother into a ditch. Efendim, çocuk ağlıyor orada, anasını çukura atıyorlar.
These are described in the Qur'an. Böyle bunlar resmediliyor.
In explaining this, God's Messenger means this: Allah Rasûlü bunu anlatmak suretiyle,
'This road is long. "Bu yol, uzaktır
It has many stations. Menzili çoktur
With no through roads. Geçidi yoktur
It leads to deep waters.' Derin sular var." diyor, esasen.
Those on the path of Prophets will always suffer like this. Peygamberler yolunda olanlar hep böyle çekecek.
Then, those unfortunate ones who have not suffered, those unlucky ones living ostentatiously and luxuriously 'are like cattle (following only their instincts) rather, even more astray (from the right way and in need of being led' (Al-A'raf, 7:179). (A'râf, 7:179). olanlar.
I reckon they should weep at their state. Bence onlar, hallerine ağlasınlar.
And you should be happy about your situation. Siz de sevinin hâlinize.
A few days ago, I talked to a few immigrants who used to live very different lives, now have lost everything they had. Bir iki gün evvel, o mağdurlardan, muhacirlerden, dünyada her şeyi elinden alınmış, zirvede vazifeler yapıyorken her şeyi elinden alınmış insanlardan birkaçı ile görüştüm.
On the phone, they were talking with such spiritual relief that I was actually ashamed of myself.
I am saddened for them; I lose sleep for all my brother and sisters. Üzülüyorum ben onlar adına; bütün kardeşlerim adına üzülüyorum, uykularım kaçıyor.
We are human after all. Biz insanız nihayet.
'I will not tire of torment and will perceive it as the apple of my eye, but "Ben usanmam gözümün nuru cefadan
It is the body, after all, and it tires from torment." says Molla Izzat. Ama ne de olmasa usanır, candır bu." diyor İzzet Molla.
I cannot help but feel sad. Elde değil; üzülmemek elde değil.
Certainly, the Pride of Humanity, peace and blessings be upon him, was also saddened.
But he was far from objecting destiny and showing impatience, may God protect us from it. Ama kadere karşı itiraz mahiyetinde sözler söylemek ve sabırsızlık yapmaktan -hafizanallah- fersah fersah uzaktı.
He tolerated everything and endured it, with God's permission and grace. Her şeyi sineye çekiyor ve katlanıyordu, Allah'ın izni-inayetiyle.
For he states: Zira O, buyuruyor ki:
'Just like a goldsmith purifies gold by melting it in a crucible, God tests you with calamities and brings you to a certain level.' "Bir sarrafın altını potada eritip saflaştırması gibi, Allah da sizi belalarla imtihan edip bir kıvama getirir."
When I came across this noble saying of the Prophet, I had not seen this version. Ben eksiden gördüğümde, bu hadis-i şerifte
Then I saw this addition. Fakat sonra bir yerde gördüm وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِهِ de var.
In a way, this is an agreed clarification, 'God knows after all' Bu, bir yönüyle tavzih, kayd-ı ittifâkî; yani, "Allah bilir zaten".
So this point elaborates: İşte o kayd-ı ittifâkîyi ifade ediyor.
Do not suppose that God puts us through tribulations to figure us out. Yani, zannetmeyin ki, Cenâb-ı Hak bunu imtihan ediyor tâ nedir ne değildir, onu bilsin.
God already knows how we are, but He does these things to show us the truth. "Nedir, ne değildir?" olduğunu biliyor Allah (celle celâluhu) ama senin gibi insanlara göstermek için.
So just as the goldsmith melts the mineral, refining it, purifying it, making it more valuable, God will test you, so you may return to your pure form.
So those who do not face such tribulations in this world travel to the eternal realm in a less purified form. Demek ki, hani bu türlü şeylere maruz kalmayan kimseler, yapı bozukluğu içinde öbür tarafa gidiyorlar.
And so what these unrefined ones will face in the grave is known by all. Ee kabirde görecekleri şey bellidir bunların; yapı bozukluğu.
And what they will face in the intermediate Realm is known, what they will face at the Great Gathering is known. Berzah'ta görecekleri şey bellidir bunların; Mahşer'de görecekleri şeyler bellidir bunların.
So what are you crying about, what are you complaining of? Ee neye ağlıyorsun, neye sızlıyorsun sen?
So those friends of ours, who have been treated unjustly but have understood the nature of the test, they have comprehended what they are facing, they express themselves in happiness, they say: Dolayısıyla o arkadaşlarımız, o meselenin esprisini kavradıklarından dolayı, sevinç içinde anlatıyorlar; diyorlar ki:
'Praise to God that we have found ourselves here.' "Allah'a hamd u senâ olsun, kendimizi burada bulduk."
People who have spent their whole lives working, striving, learning, coming to a certain position, then been spread apart and scattered like seeds.
They have been scattered, but instead shrivelling up in the barren fields of hopelessness, they have fallen into new pastures, and have begun growing and multiplying once again.
And a day will come when they multiply over and over again. Ve gün gelmiş, o, yetmiş, hatta yedi yüz başak halinde dışarıya çıkmış.
As God mentions in the Qur'an: Kur'an-ı Kerim'in buyurduğu gibi:
'The parable of those who spend their wealth in God's cause is like that of a grain that sprouts seven ears and in every ear, there are a hundred grains. "Mallarını Allah yolunda infak edenlerin hali, yedi başak bitiren ve her başakta yüz dane bulunan bir tohum gibidir.
God multiplies for whom He wills. Allah, kime dilerse ona kat kat verir.
God is All-Embracing (with His mercy), All-Knowing' (Al-Baqarah, 2:261). Allah, (rahmet ve lütfuyla her varlığı) kucaklayan, (merhametiyle kullarına) genişlik gösterendir; (kullarının halini) hakkıyla bilendir." (Bakara, 2:261).
Indeed, it is in this manner. Evet, o hesap.
By looking at calamities and misfortunes in this way, with God's permission and grace, you will understand that He is essentially refining you and shaping you so that you are worthy of afterlife.  Meseleye, belâ ve musibetlere bu şekilde bakarsanız, Allah'ın izni-inayetiyle, Cenâb-ı Hak, burada sizi siz yapıyor esasen; yontuyor, şekillendiriyor, böyle öbür tarafa ehil, öbür tarafa lâyık, öbür tarafın bütün görünümlerine uygun hale getiriyor.
Everything will manifest itself within the Sphere of Divine Power in extraordinary ways. Ötede her şey Kudret dairesi içinde fevkaladeden zuhur edecek.
And if you are not like that, there will be no suitability between the disposition and the conditions, no synchronisation.
If that synchronisation is going to occur with these challenges, praise and glorification be to God, may He be glorified and exalted, for testing us while others were submerged with extravagance and dazzling splendour. Hal-mahall uygunluğu, eğer bunlar ile olacaksa, Cenâb-ı Hakk'a binlerce hamd ü senâ olsun ki, Allah (celle celâluhu) bizi imtihan dairesinde kılmış; öbürlerini de şatafat, debdebe, ihtişam, baş döndürücü dünyevî güzellikler içinde.
They live as though they are drunk; walk as though they are drunk; they will answer to the questioning angles of the grave in a drunken state.
Consequently, we must be grateful for our predicament and offer our praise and glorification and not be swept up by disorder. Dolayısıyla halimize binlerce şükretmek, hamd ü senâda bulunmak ve bu mevzuda dağınıklığa düşmemek lazım
In addition, as part of this matter and by careful discussion, we must not allow our efforts and energy to dissipate.
The Honourable Sage Bediüzzaman says: Hazreti Pîr diyor ki:
'We have two hands. "İki elimiz var.
Even if we had a hundred hands, they would be only sufficient for the light.'
That means, no matter how many hands we have, they will only be sufficient for this task.
However God has created man with two hands but has given him the ability to accomplish important tasks that thousands of hands can do; yes man was created with such potential.
He says 'the perfect pattern of creation'; He created man with such potential. "Ahsen-i Takvîm" diyor, öyle bir donanımda yaratmış.
Yes, let's be busy in our own engagements and not think of other things. Evet, kendi meselelerimiz ile meşgul olalım, onları düşünmeyelim.
Even, when these sorts of things come to our mind... Hatta onlar aklımıza geldiği zaman.
I would like to say something: Bir şey diyeyim ben:
Someone impertinent, miserable, ignorant, dead ignorant might come out and label you as 'terrorist'. Kalkar birisi, onlardan bir kendini bilmez, bir zavallı, cahil, zilzurna cahil, echell, kalkıp hani "terörist" diyebilir size.
Shall we retaliate in a similar manner: "İlle mukabele-i bi'l-misil yapalım biz.
'You are the terrorist.' 'Terörist sensin.' falan diyelim."
But why are you dirtying your mouth with these words. Ne diye ağzını kirletiyorsun yahu.
This is already a dirty man; he is displaying his character. O, zaten kirli adam; kirliliğin gereğini yapıyor.
He cannot do this any other way; he will say those words. Başka türlü olamaz ki; o, onu diyecek.
Why are you dirtying your tongue, mouth and eyes and responding to him?
Leave him; if something needs to be done, it shall be done by God.
God is the All-Knowing and the Utterly-Just. Allah, "Allâmu'l-guyûb"tur, Allah, "Âdil-i Mutlak"tır.
Disbelief will continue, but oppression will not. Küfür devam eder, zulüm devam etmez.
God will one day rent them all asunder. Allah (celle celâluhu) bir gün onları tepetaklak getirir.
Why are you exaggerating the situation; and responding to them?
Then one day, when you see them upside down, you will say 'I wish I did not respond to them' and your heart will hurt. Sonra bir gün onları tepetaklak gördüğün zaman, "Keşke demeseydim bunu." diyeceksin, yüreğin yanacak senin orada.
Someone says this multiple times: Çok defa birisi öyle diyor, sizin bildiğiniz arkadaşlardan birisi:
'On the day of the Great Gathering some will appear as gorillas, some as monkeys, some as others, and my heart aches as I watch them be thrown straight into Hell.' "Mahşerde gözümün önünde bazıları goril gibi, bazıları maymun gibi, bazıları bilmem ne gibi, tepetaklak Cehennem'e atıldıklarında yüreğim yanıyor."
That is to say he sees it in his dream; he envisions and feels the pain of that day.  Demek hayalinde görüyor; hayalde görüyor, yüreği yanıyor.
Why are you asking for things that will pain your heart?
God is powerful to truly guide: Allah, hidayete de kâdirdir:
'Lead us to the right path, on the path of those You have blessed.' "Bizi doğru yola, kendilerine nimet verdiklerinin yoluna ilet."
As you always read in The Imploring Hearts:  El-Kulûbu'd-Dâria'da okuyorsunuz, hep demiyor mu orada:
'O God, please forgive all believers, female and male, and all Muslims, female and male.' "Allah'ım bizi, kadın erkek bütün mü'minleri ve kadın erkek bütün Müslümanları mağfiret eyle."
Though if you would like to be specific you can include, 'Especially our sisters and brothers, friends and companions.'
Why are you making an exception for the Muslims? Ama niye Müslümanları istisnâ ediyorsunuz?
Those who are after and engaged in wickedness are not worthy of mentioning.  Evet, o kötülük peşinde olanlar o kadar meşguliyete, üzerlerinde durmaya değmez.
Indeed, empty engagements... Evet, boş şey.
Let them be as they are in their own states, let them continue to drag themselves around.  Bırakın onları, kendi halleriyle kıvranıp dursunlar, sürüklenip dursunlar.
Let's be busy in our own engagements.  Kendi meselelerimizle meşgul olalım.
God assisted and allowed us to continue on our path, without the power, wealth and support of governments.
Schools were established in over 170 countries across the world. They built homes of knowledge, widened horizons and built roads of brotherhood and global peace, with God's permission and grace. Dünyanın yüz yetmiş ülkesinde okullar açtılar, irfan yuvaları kurdular, insanları aydınlattılar, dünya kardeşliğine giden güzergâhlar oluşturdular, Allah'ın izni-inâyeti ile.
Have no hesitation, God (may He be glorified and exalted) will not allow for tyrants and oppressors to destroy this.  Hiç tereddüdünüz olmasın, Allah (celle celâluhu) başlattığı bir şeyi başkalarının zâlim eliyle yıkıp harap etmez.
'God will never oppress people.' "Allah asla insanlara zulmetmez."
God, may He be glorified and exalted, will not oppress you.  Size zulmetmez Allah, celle celâluhu.
That is why we should concentrate on our own tasks.
With God's permission and grace, just like yesterday, tomorrow we will be able to serve in 170 countries.
You may look and see that the heroes of service have reached Mars, Venus or to a solar system outside of the Sun.  Bakarsınız Hizmet erleri Mars'a çıkarlar, Venüs'e çıkarlar, Güneş sisteminin dışında başka bir sisteme giderler.
They will have taken the message to whoever they find there too.  Bütün oralarda da o insanlara mesajlarını ulaştırırlar.
If there are people, or animate beings there.
There is a verse in the Qur'an that signals to this; I also believe in this.
Yes, you may find that there are also beings that exist on these planets and they too turn to God, you may be of benefit to them with ideas.  Evet, bakarsınız oralarda da Cenâb-ı Hakk'a teveccüh etmiş varlıklar var, fikir katkısında bulunursunuz onlara.
And you too will benefit from their ideas.  Onlardan alacağınız olur sizin de.
And a very different thing may occur, with God's permission and grace.
Yes, you will take the mission all the way there. Evet, meseleyi alır tâ oraya kadar götürürsünüz.
All the way to stellar systems, ad astra, with God's permission and grace. Güneşin merkezine kadar, güneşlerin merkezine kadar götürürsünüz, Allah'ın izni-inayetiyle.
Then, Öyle ise,
Place your trust in God "Gel Hakk'a tevekkül kıl
and find comfort, Tefvîz eyle ve rahat bul
You be content with your due, Sen hakkına razı ol
Let's see what the Master does, Mevlâ görelim neyler
Splendid is whatever He does!' Neylerse güzel eyler.
God renders good all vice Hak, şerleri hayreyler
Never think that He does otherwise. Sen sanma ki gayr eyler
A wise person watches the moment Ârif, ânı seyreyler
Let's see what the Master does, Mevlâ görelim neyler
Splendid is whatever He does!' Neylerse güzel eyler."
I am speaking of things you already know, nor am I in any state to tell you anything extra.
'Do not say why is this so "Deme bu niçin böyle
Tis as it needs to be Yerindedir ol öyle
Just wait till the end and see Var sonunu seyreyle
Let's see what the Master does, Mevlâ görelim neyler
Splendid is whatever He does!' Neylerse güzel eyler."
The respected Ibrahim Haqqi says that. İbrahim Hakkı hazretleri, Tefviznâme.
This will suffice you. Vesselam.
I apologise, I spoke too much.  Baş ağrıttım.
'Forgive me, I apologise.' "Affınızı isterim, özür dilerim."
Yes, we must continue to make salutations to our noble Prophet and continue supplicating. Evet, salât u selâma devam, duaya devam.
If we have a daily hour of supplication, we should try to increase that to two hours a day.
Let us not miss our Night Vigil. Teheccüd'ü kaçırmayalım.
To miss the Night Vigil in Islam is for the lazy people.  Müslümanlıkta Teheccüd'ü kaçırma, tembel insanların işidir.
Yes, I've heard about this friend; he missed Tahajjud one day, made up for it when he woke up and said: Evet, sizin bir arkadaşınızı duydum ben; bir gün teheccüdü kaçırmış, sonra kalkmış, galiba onu kaza etmiş fakat diyor ki:
'It still doesn't leave my mind, how did I do such an ill-mannered thing?' "Hâlâ kafamdan çıkmıyor, ben o terbiyesizliği nasıl yaptım?"
No Tahajjud means no tajahhud. "Teheccüd"süz, dolayısıyla da "tecehhüd"süz.
One who does not have Tahajjud (the Night Vigil) will also lack tajahhud (vigilance); they cannot strive to serve God to their fullest. Teheccüd'ü olmayanın tecehhüdü de olmaz; o kendisini cân ü gönülden, ölesiye hizmete veremez.
Instead, they will become lazy and lie on their side. Tembel tembel, yan gelir yatar kulağı üzerine.
Let's enlighten our nights with the Tahajjud. Gecelerimizi Teheccüd ile taçlandıralım.
In the words of the great Ibrahim Haqqi once again: Bu da yine İbrahim Hakk'ı hazretlerinindir:
'O eyes! What is sleep? Come, wake at nights, "Ey dîde nedir uyku, gel uyan gecelerde
Behold the stars on nights of promenade. Kevkeplerin et seyrini, seyrân gecelerde
Look and watch those wonders in the sky of the world; Bak hey'et-i âlemde, bu hikmetleri seyret
Find your Maker and host Him at nights.' Bul Sâni'ini, ol âna mihman gecelerde."
The Honourable Sage Bediüzzaman also ponders similarly up in the mountains, as if counting the stars: Hazreti Pîr de dağın başında, yıldızları sayarcasına hususiyetleriyle anlatmıyor mu?
'For heedless you will be (of God) with other things in the day, "Çün gündüz olursun nice ağyâr ile gâfil
Leave the heedlessness; be ashamed of God at night.' Ko gafleti, Dildârdan bari utan gecelerde."
Eat little, sleep little, drink little, experience an utmost astonishment, remember your transience and find immortality, host God in your nights.  Az ye, az uyu, az iç, hayrete var, fâni ol; bul beka, ol O'na mihman gecelerde.
Would you not like to visit Him in the night? O'na misafir olmak istemez misiniz, geceleri?
Those who are sleeping cannot be His guests; cannot be welcomed to the infinite blessings of The Most Glorified and Exalted. Uyuyan insanlar, O'na (celle celâluhu) misafir olamaz; Keremkâni'nin keremine misafir olamaz.
May God Almighty make us all like that; may He protect us from wasting even a single moment of time. Cenâb-ı Hak, öyle eylesin; zamanımızın bir zerresini bile israf ettirmesin.
We are for the Hereafter; we are engaged with the Hereafter. Biz âhiret içiniz, âhirete namzediz.
What is the world for us? Dünya, bizim neyimize?
In the words of our noble Prophet, 'What relation do I have with the world? Efendimiz'in ifadesiyle, "Ne alakam var benim dünya ile?
My relation with this world resembles that of a traveller who takes a rest underneath the shade of a tree. Benim durumum, tıpkı bir yolda giderken bir ağacın altında muvakkaten ârâm eden bir insana benzer.
Only to continue his journey after a short rest.' Sonra o kalkar, bineğine biner, göçer gider."
The world is something like a tree under which one rests and reposes temporarily.
Where we are essentially headed is the afterlife, with all its splendour and glory.
May God make us happy, joyful about and satisfied there. Allah, orayla sevindirsin, memnun ve mesrur eylesin.
There was a book called Instruction of the Student: The Method of Learning. "Talim ve Müteallim" diye bir kitap vardı.
When we were at the madrasa, everyone was handed this book so they read it.  Biz medresedeyken bu kitabı verirlerdi herkese, okusun diye.
I suppose this was at the beginning of this book: Onun başındaydı bu, zannediyorum:
'O young man, read! "Ey delikanlı, oku.
Ignorance is a shame and a flaw. Cehalet, ârdır, ayıptır.
And no one else but a donkey is contented with it.' Ona, eşekten başkası da razı olmaz."
Well, I have prattled on for this long, please forgive me.
And may God forgive my wrongdoings.  Allah da seyyiâtımı affeylesin.
If I have said anything wrong, may God Almighty bless me with His forgiveness. Yanlış bir şey söyledimse, Cenâb-ı Hak, mağfiretine mazhar eylesin.
'O the All-Forgiving, the Concealer, pardon our sins completely, conceal all of our faults. "Ey Gaffâr, ey Settâr, günahlarımızın tamamını mağfiret buyur; bütün ayıplarımızı setreyle.
O the All-Caterer God, the Expeller of troubles, our Lord. Ey ihtiyaç ve hâcetleri gideren Rabbimiz, ey belâları def' u ref' eden Sultanımız.
Cater to all our needs; expel all probable troubles that may be upon us, all around the globe and every facet of life."  Bizim bütün ihtiyaçlarımızı gider; başımıza gelmesi muhtemel bütün belâları def' eyle, dünyanın her yanında ve hayatın her biriminde."
